VaxCare was founded in 2007 with a vision to help physicians modernize their vaccine programs. Initially focused on small and mid-sized clinics, the company offered workflow tools designed to reduce the administrative burden of vaccine delivery and to streamline tasks like inventory management, eligibility tracking and reimbursement. Seeing an opportunity to evolve into a more integrated platform purpose-built to serve the complex needs of larger physician groups and health systems, the VaxCare team sought a growth partner to help expand its product, scale operations and reposition its go-to-market strategy for broader impact.

How Summit Partners Helped

  • Led a proprietary growth investment in 2020 to support national expansion and platform development
  • Helped recruit key leaders, including a new COO and two independent board directors: Dave King (former CEO of LabCorp) and Ken Burdick (former CEO of WellCare Health Plans)
  • Partnered closely with management to help scale go-to-market efforts and deepen adoption across health systems and physician practices, with the company signing contracts with eight of the leading healthcare systems in the U.S.
  • Supported the evolution of the platform beyond vaccines to other physician-administered drugs, enabling entry into new clinical areas
  • Assisted the team in strengthening operational infrastructure, data capabilities and reporting systems to support multi-state growth and enterprise-level visibility
  • Worked alongside the founder and executive team to help refine strategy and position VaxCare as the largest primary care vaccinator networks in the U.S.(1)
