Grant H. BeardExecutive-in-Residence
As an Executive-in-Residence at Summit Partners, Grant works alongside Summit’s growth equity team to identify high-growth businesses in the industrial sector with a specific focus on engineered products, specialty packaging, applied materials, and automotive sub-sectors.
Grant brings extensive executive experience and a deep knowledge of the industrial sector. He currently serves as Chairman of Advanced Energy (NASDAQ: AEIS), a global provider of energy conversion products serving the semiconductor and other processing industries. Previously, Grant served as Chairman of Wynnchurch Industries and as an advisor to Wynnchurch Capital. Grant joined Wynnchurch Industries from Wolverine Advanced Materials, a global producer of specialty elastomeric materials that provide noise abatement and sealing capabilities for a wide range of products. During his tenure as Chairman and CEO at Wolverine, he led the company through a period of strong global growth culminating in Wolverine’s sale to ITT Corporation in 2015.
Previously, Grant was CEO of Constar International (NASDAQ: CNST), a global supplier of rigid plastic packaging products sold to the food and beverage markets, which he sold to Plastipak Corporation in 2013. In his role as CEO of Trimas (NYSE: TRS), a diversified engineered products business, Grant led the company through its IPO process in in 2007. He also served as Chairman and CEO of HealthMedia, a provider of health risk assessment products, which was sold to Johnson & Johnson.
Grant’s other industrial and executive experience includes roles at Blue Point Capital, Echlin Corporation (acquired by Dana Corporation), Preferred Technical Group, Anderson / Oxford Investment and Chrysler Corporation. In addition, he has served on a number of corporate boards.
Grant holds a BS and an MBA in finance from Miami University and an MA in international economics from the University of Detroit. He currently serves on the International Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
