As an Executive-in-Residence at Summit Partners, Bob works alongside Summit’s technology team to identify new investment opportunities within growth-stage technology companies.
Bob brings nearly 25 years of investing and senior leadership experience as a venture and growth equity investor and founder/CEO in big data/cloud-based applications, consumer internet, digital transaction enablement, e-commerce and mobile/connected devices.
Currently, Bob is a Venture Partner at Cava Capital, a family office-based pledge fund vehicle that makes venture capital and growth equity investments through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), and an Advisory Board member of G20 Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital firm that focuses on making Series A investments in enterprise software companies. Prior to joining Summit, Bob served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Warburg Pincus, focused on companies in the mobile and artificial intelligence sectors. Previously, Bob was a General Partner at Polaris Venture Partners, a large Boston and San Francisco-based venture capital and growth equity firm, where he focused primarily on investing in early stage and growth stage companies in the consumer internet, digital media, e-commerce, enterprise SaaS and mobile/connected devices sectors. Bob began his career as an Associate on the technology team at Summit Partners.
Bob is an experienced operator in mobile/connected device and digital media companies. He co-founded Digisure, a next generation, software-based insurance company offering a series of usage or transaction-based insurance products bundled with internet and shared economy transactions. In July 2015, Bob co-founded and served as the Chairman and CEO of Confirm, Inc., a leading provider of identity authentication software for the digital economy that was acquired by Facebook in March 2018. In 2011, Bob co-founded and served as CEO of EveryScreen Media, a data science-based mobile advertising and e-commerce technology company. In August 2013, EveryScreen Media merged with Media6 Degrees to form Dstillery, a SaaS-based provider of data and media buying capabilities for global brands. From 1998 to 2000, Bob served on the management team of Summit portfolio company MCK Communications, a VoIP-based communications software and hardware company. During Bob’s time as a member of the management team, MCK grew from a small, unprofitable company to a public company and market leader in its category.
Bob holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
