Growth Equity Investor Summit Partners Announces Promotions

BOSTON, MA and PALO ALTO, CA – Summit Partners, a growth equity firm that invests in rapidly growing companies, today announced four promotions. J.J. Kardwell and Greg Goldfarb were promoted to Managing Director, Andrew Collins was promoted to Vice President, and Kevin Mullins was promoted to Senior Associate.

  • J.J. Kardwell has been promoted to Managing Director. Mr. Kardwell joined the Boston office of Summit Partners in 2003 as a Vice President. He was promoted to Principal in 2007 and subsequently relocated to the firm’s Palo Alto office. Mr. Kardwell has focused on the financial services, financial technology and communications technology and services sectors. He was a key participant in the firm’s investments in Fortegra Financial (NYSE: FRF), Help/Systems (acquired by Audax Group), LogistiCare (acquired by Providence Service Corporation), M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings and Newmarket International (acquired by Court Square Capital Partners). Prior to joining Summit Partners, Mr. Kardwell worked for McKinsey & Company, Windhorst New Technologies and The Walt Disney Company. He holds an AB, cum laude, in psychology from Harvard University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.

  • Greg Goldfarb has been promoted to Managing Director. Mr. Goldfarb joined the Palo Alto office of Summit Partners in 2002 as an Associate. He was promoted to Senior Associate in 2003, Vice President in 2005 and Principal in 2008. Mr. Goldfarb is a member of the firm’s venture capital team and has been closely involved in its investments in Clearwater Analytics, Cloudmark, IntelliChem (acquired by Symyx Technologies), LiveOffice, ProClarity Corporation (acquired by Microsoft), The Mutual Fund Store, Tiny Prints (acquired by Shutterfly), Web Reservations International (acquired by Hellman & Friedman) and Winshuttle Holdings. Prior to joining Summit Partners, Mr. Goldfarb worked for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide where he was Director of E-Commerce and Director of Starwood’s Innovation Lab. He holds an AB, magna cum laude, in government from Harvard University.

  • Andrew Collins has been promoted to Vice President. Mr. Collins joined the Palo Alto office of Summit Partners in 2008 as an Associate and in 2010 was promoted to Senior Associate. During his first three years with the firm, Mr. Collins was responsible for the identification of four new investments. He has participated in the completion of a total of five transactions, including Cloudmark, NetWitness Corporation (acquired by EMC Corporation), Ubiquiti Networks, Wildfire Interactive and Winshuttle Holdings. Prior to joining Summit Partners, Mr. Collins worked for Banc of America Securities. He holds a BS in finance, with a minor in entrepreneurship, from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

  • Kevin Mullins has been promoted to Senior Associate. Mr. Mullins joined the Boston office of Summit Partners in 2008 as an Associate. He has been instrumental in the firm’s investment activities in the healthcare technology and healthcare services sectors. Prior to joining Summit Partners, he worked for Leerink Swann. Mr. Mullins holds a BA in physics and economics from Bowdoin College.
